Job Title: Deputy Nursery Manager
Hours of duty: 40 hours per week
Overview: Perform duties in line with 22 Street Lane Nursery’s ethos, philosophy and vision, as well as the policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and Safeguarding children.
We are delighted to offer a unique management opportunity within our state-of-the-art nursery in the heart of Roundhay, working alongside an outstanding team of professionals. Our nursery has recently been awarded Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ for a second time in February 2024.
We are looking for a highly motivated, childcare professional who is passionate about delivering the highest level in childcare whilst possessing a sound understanding of the nursery industry.
The successful candidate will have experience in leading the delivery of fantastic childcare across the nursery whilst supporting the manager in the day to day running. The role is office based and the successful candidate will be experienced in supporting room-based staff in developing and enhancing practices. They will strive to deliver outstanding practices at all times as well as having an understanding of associated administration.

Main Duties
• To achieve and maintain the highest standards of care and education.
• Manage all day-to-day operations of the nursery, improving operational efficiencies wherever possible.
• To effectively lead and manage the staff team including recruitment and retention, supervisions, performance management etc
• Providing day to day guidance, training and support to all staff.
• To ensure all policies, procedures and curriculums are regularly reviewed, implemented and adhered to at all times.
• To keep abreast of current early childhood thinking/trends.
• To effectively assist in managing occupancy levels, day to day costs, and finance reporting.
• To maintain an effective parent liaison programme and be influential in developing strong links with parents.
• To support with HR matters and provision of payroll information.
• To support and deliver regular staff meetings and training days.
This job description is intended to give you an indication of the main duties, but is not meant to be an exhaustive list. You will be working full time, Monday to Friday 40 hours per week on varying shift patterns. The nursery is open 7am-6pm.
Qualifications and Experience
• At least three years’ experience of working in an early years setting at a senior level.
• NNEB Diploma, CACHE Level 3, NVQ level 3 or equivalent NVQ level 4 or relevant degree.
• Business management experience.
• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework.
• Experience of coaching and mentoring individuals.
• Experience of leading and supporting staff teams and strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation
• In depth knowledge of OFSTED requirements.
• Excellent knowledge of the EYFS.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to reliably work to targets and deadlines.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Maths GCSE Grade C or above
• Competent in use of Microsoft packages
• Experience with Nursery software advantageous
