Mini First Aid Classes

The Swans have been very excited to take part in the ‘Mini First Aid’ session, with the help of Barney the Bear who helped them to learn what to do in an emergency. They learnt how to use bandages to stop too much blood from leaving our bodies, and then practiced gently applying pressure on the ‘wounds’ with each other.

Using Barney, they learnt how to apply cold compresses and plasters along with learning about the special number ‘999’ to call for an ambulance if someone is very poorly.

The children helped Barney into the recovery position and used pretend phones to practice calling for help, finishing the session listening to a story called ‘The Mini Adventures of Freddie’ which helped us to recap what we had learnt along with sharing ideas about what they should do in an emergency.
