Harvest Collection 2020
Harvest Festival Collection 🍂🍝🥕🧼
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Harvest Festival Collection. We managed to collect over 250 items that were delivered to our local food bank.
We believe that it is really important for our children to understand the importance of giving to others, especially those who are not as fortunate as ourselves. We had such an overwhelming response and have received the following letter from the Chair of Trustees for Leeds North and West Food Bank, who were extremely grateful for all your donations.
Dear the Team and Parents of 22 Street Lane Nursery,
We want to thank you for supporting the Leeds North and West foodbank. We were delighted to receive your donation of food collected for your Harvest offering.
This year has been a difficult year so far for many people, here at Leeds North and West foodbank we were already seeing around a 30 percent year on year increase in referrals for support prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted the whole country one way or another.Whilst the pandemic has undoubtedly caused hardship for many people, with the worrying possibility of many more people yet to see the full effects upon their jobs and finances, it has also been a time where the foodbank has been blessed by an amazing generosity from so many people. Both with food and monetary donations.
These fantastic donations have enabled us to continue supporting the ever-growing number of people looking for help. However, like so many other organisations we have had to adjust our way of working during the past few months, closing our foodbank centre sessions temporarily to protect both clients and volunteers. We are currently operating a delivery model where people referred to us are supported by our volunteers packing up parcels and delivering these to client’s homes.
We have also needed to move our food storage to larger premises in order to enable us to sort and pack donations whilst keeping volunteers socially distanced.
These have been big changes for all of us but ones that have seen us able to continue to support people through this difficult time. We really appreciate your help in maintaining our service through your generous support. We look forward to continuing to work with you, as long as our service is required in the communities we work in.
Thank you again for your time and support.Yours sincerely,
Julie Brownrigg
