Forest School at 22 Street Lane Nursery
Yet another fantastic session at Forest School last week; before the children set off to Forest School, we had to prepare well as it was cold. The children put on their coats, wellies and high viz jackets then paired with their ‘muddy buddy’ who they had to pair with throughout the session.
We discussed our outing and told the children it was about having fun yet stressed the importance of listening and being sensible when out of nursery and ran through the reasons we had to be safe by the road. When all the children were ready we left the Nursery and proceeded to Roundhay Park to find our ‘magic spot’. We sat and had our morning snack and a drink of water before exploring the area further!
We found a big shelter made by other children, we climbed and crawled inside; and all managed to fit! We then stumbled across a large tree trunk and sat together pretending it was a train and it was taking us to Disneyland!
We re-enacted parts of the story ‘we’re going on a bear hunt’… when we found big muddy patches which we of course had to ‘go through it! We made bridges to get over ‘water,’ found a fairy home, and fed the fairies all sorts of vegetables by throwing leaves into the air.
Finally, it was time to return to Nursery; we all felt a bit sad but all agreed we were hungry so headed back to 22 for our lunch!
