Finger Gym at 22 Street Lane Nursery

Posted on:

This week the children of 22 Street Lane Nursery have been developing their fine motor skills, in our Finger Gym activities!

Finger Gym is a comprehensive programme of developmental games, stories, rhymes and activities that develop and improve fine motor skills, language and handwriting. Finger Gym helps to develop strong, flexible fingers, hands and arms. It promotes better hand-eye co-ordination, differentiated movement and manual dexterity. It fosters children’s use and understanding of spoken language. It builds cognitive abilities and provides opportunities to practise self-regulation.

The children were each given a snowman and asked to picked a hat for the snowman to wear. The children were then asked to look at the number on the snowman’s hat; they then had to find the correct amount of pom poms to give the Snowman some buttons; promoting their fine motor skills and maths skills!
