22 Street Lane Nursery Visit Harewood House
On Friday 4th August, our pre-school ‘Swans’ children went exploring the outdoors on a trip to Harewood House. Harewood House is a 18th century country house in Harewood near Leeds. It is renowned for its bird garden, farm experience and over 100 acres of exquisite gardens.
When we arrived, we first went to visit the Penguins; they were slipping, sliding, and swimming around their enclosure. The children loved looking at the penguins swimming and watching them as they were fed fish by the penguin trainers.
We also went to see the rabbits, donkeys, pigs and a variety of birds. The children engaged well and asked lots of interesting questions to find out more about the exotic species.
We spent our lunch eating outside on the grass, in the picnic area. We had; wraps, fruit and flapjack. After lunch, the children played in the adventure playground together.
On our way home we all we sang ‘Wheels on the Bus’ and the driver even joined in with us, turning on his windscreen wipers and beeping his horn!
We all had a fantastic day, one of the children said; “I’ve had a wonderful time!” Most children agreed that their favourite part of the day was seeing the penguins.
