Woodwork Class Brochure

Woodworking provides an excellent play environment for children to engage in problem solving, an important skill for children to develop from an early age for their future. Under strict supervision, ensuring safety equipment is worn at all times, and after we have talked about the rules of Woodworking safety, children have the opportunity to explore with work benches, vice and clamps, hammers, screws and screwdrivers.

Exploring with such tools and materials builds self esteem and confidence, children feel empowered through the use of real tools, they are given responsibility and work towards accomplishing tasks that they initially feel to be challenging.

Benefits of Woodworking:

• Eye-hand coordination
• Dexterity/fine motor skills
• Imagination
• Problem-solving
• Role-play
• Language development
