Chinese New Year 2019 Celebrations

Posted on:

新年快乐 (xīn nián kuài lè)! That means Happy New Year in Mandarin – one of many Chinese languages and dialects, and this year is the Year of the Pig (oink oink!).

Chinese New Year is a 15-day long celebration that occurs later than the international January the 1st and is marked by the beginning of the second new moon after the winter solstice.

In addition to exploring the country of China and Chinese mark making crafts, we have celebrated some of its traditions with our children today including munching on Chinese food from Man’s Market and having great fun dragon dancing, surrounded by the beautiful paper lanterns we have made.
